The R.M. Gilbert Civil Rights Museum project involved the adaptive reuse of a historic structure and a sensitive addition designed to support expanded exhibition and community programming space. Located along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the project contributes to ongoing revitalization efforts in the surrounding historic district. The design introduces a variety of exhibit environments that support educational storytelling while maintaining compatibility with local historic guidelines. Improvements included exterior enhancements, updated entry conditions, and new flexible space for traveling exhibits and gatherings, allowing the museum to expand its cultural impact while preserving the integrity of the original building.
