The Atlanta Gas Light Clayton County Business Center is part of a series of regional facilities designed for Atlanta Gas Light to support operations, training, fleet management, and customer service across the company’s service territory. The project followed GVSA’s successful design of the Southern Company Gas Resource Center and was one of the first projects initiated through a four-year IDIQ contract to expand Atlanta Gas Light’s operational infrastructure. The Clayton County campus required careful planning to integrate new facilities within an existing operations site that already included fleet services, training spaces, and call center functions. A detailed programming effort helped identify circulation patterns for service vehicles, staff movement, and visitor access across the campus. These findings informed the placement and organization of new buildings within the existing operational environment. Due to zoning constraints and neighborhood considerations, the final design strategy introduced three separate buildings connected through the campus circulation system rather than a single large structure. This approach allowed the new facilities to integrate naturally with the existing site layout while maintaining efficient operational workflows. Architecturally, the buildings were designed to match the existing campus character through the use of similar materials, colors, and massing. The result is a cohesive campus environment that supports Atlanta Gas Light’s operational needs while reinforcing a consistent architectural identity across the company’s regional facilities.
