Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Fire Station #32 South is a purpose-built emergency response facility designed to support the operational demands of one of the busiest airports in the world. GVSA provided full architectural services for the project, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, permitting, and construction administration. The approximately 25,000-square-foot facility serves as the primary emergency response station for the South Terminal and multiple concourses. Strategically located near the southwest corner of the South Terminal, the station allows rapid response to aviation incidents, medical emergencies, and structural fires across the airport campus. The building includes four extended pull-through apparatus bays capable of accommodating ARFF vehicles, fire engines, and EMS units. The site design prioritizes efficient vehicle circulation and quick deployment while maintaining secure operational access. Interior spaces were designed to support the needs of fire personnel working 24-hour shifts. The facility includes sleeping quarters for up to twenty firefighters per shift, administrative offices, training spaces, equipment storage, and operational support areas. Additional amenities such as a dayroom, dining areas, full commercial kitchen, fitness room, and outdoor gathering space provide a comfortable living environment for staff. The new fire station significantly enhances emergency preparedness and response capabilities while supporting the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and surrounding facilities.
