The James Brown Arena is a 300,000 SF multi-purpose entertainment venue designed to expand the existing Bell Auditorium and serve as the centerpiece of the Augusta Entertainment Complex. Developed in collaboration with Perkins&Will, the facility accommodates approximately 10,500 seats and is designed to host a wide range of events including concerts, sporting events, and large-scale performances. The arena incorporates premium seating options, suites, and a variety of food and beverage offerings that enhance the overall guest experience while supporting operational flexibility for diverse event types. Interior circulation is carefully organized to provide clear wayfinding and continuous visual connection to event spaces, with viewing platforms positioned along concourses to allow guests to remain engaged with performances as they move throughout the facility. Expansive gathering areas and bar locations contribute to an active and social environment that supports both pre-event and intermission activity. The exterior architectural expression incorporates varied materials and dynamic forms inspired by the rhythm and energy of music, creating a contemporary identity that complements the existing Bell Auditorium while establishing a strong visual presence within the district. The project reinforces the broader vision for a revitalized entertainment destination that supports cultural activity, economic development, and community engagement within downtown Augusta.
