The Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport Quarter Point is designed to provide the everyday traveler with increased food options and an elevated dining experience. Its name is derived from its location on the Concourse. Located halfway between the passenger train which connects all the mid-points of every concourse and the south end of Concourse D, this food island is a welcome stop for passengers without having to return to the mid-point to get a larger variety of food choices. The Quarter Point involves both the Apron and Boarding levels but offers an elevated third level dedicated to dining only, the Concession Level. Passengers can get out of the main passenger flow, relax, and enjoy a dining experience unencumbered by the rush of foot traffic headed to their gate/flight.
The project scope covered approximately 52,347 sq. ft. over 3 levels. Most of that area is located on the Boarding level and the new Concessions level. In addition to the new dining area, the public restrooms that served this location were upgraded to address travelers’ needs such as benches for waiting on traveling companions near the drinking fountains and restrooms for those traveling in groups. This suite of spaces also contained a “refresher” lobby allowing travelers to step out of the main rush of foot traffic and access the Mother’s Room, Family Restroom, and rest stop, all centered around an art feature - upgrading the overall experience while taking advantage of the Quarter Point.
