The Mary Lin Elementary School Renovation and Expansion improved campus functionality while supporting long-term sustainability and community integration. The 92,285-square-foot project included strategic building additions and site improvements designed to enhance circulation, safety, and the overall learning environment. Early site analysis informed traffic separation strategies and building expansion options that minimized disruption to daily school operations while improving access and connectivity across the campus. The design process included extensive engagement with administrators, faculty, parents, neighbors, and community stakeholders to ensure the final solution responded to both educational needs and neighborhood context. Sustainable site strategies were integrated as both functional and educational elements, including permeable paving, rain gardens, vegetated swales, and bioretention systems. Rainwater harvesting and reuse systems support building functions while reinforcing environmental stewardship as part of the student learning experience.
