Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of the most technically ambitious and recognizable sports venues of its time, designed to redefine the modern stadium experience through innovation, scale, and performance. Conceived as an iconic architectural statement inspired by the oculus of the Pantheon and the motion of a falcon’s wings, the facility integrates advanced structural systems, a retractable roof, and immersive digital environments that transform game days into full weekend destinations. Sustainability strategies inform the building’s form and envelope, supporting daylighting, natural air movement, and long-term operational efficiency while reinforcing the stadium’s identity as both a civic landmark and high-performance venue. As one of three local architects selected to support the lead design architect, GVSA was responsible for the design and documentation of approximately 400,000 square feet across the two largest and most complex levels of the stadium, known as the Event Level. GVSA also served as prime architect for the Atlanta Falcons’ corporate offices located within the stadium and the on-site structured parking deck. The work required coordination of complex program requirements, premium hospitality environments, and large-scale circulation systems within a highly integrated and technically demanding facility.
