GVSA partnered with Ewing Cole to develop a phased master plan for the renovation and expansion of North Carolina A&T’s historic War Memorial Stadium. Originally completed in 1926, the stadium has served both collegiate and minor league baseball teams and currently hosts the A&T Aggies baseball program. The project focuses on modernizing fan amenities and player development facilities while maintaining the historic character of the venue. Design strategies address complex challenges including historic preservation requirements, floodplain considerations, and brownfield site conditions. Phase 1 consists of demolition of the existing left-field stands and necessary improvements to accommodate future scope; with phase 1B anticipating rotation of the field, new above-grade dugouts, and existing structure stabilization. The planning effort establishes a framework for a contemporary collegiate athletics facility that meets NCAA standards while supporting long-term campus growth and improved spectator experience.
